International Rescue Committee

Responding To The World’s Worst Humanitarian Crises

International Rescue Committee

The International Rescue Committee offers emergency aid and long-term assistance to refugees and those displaced by war, persecution, or natural disaster. The IRC has offices across the country, but we work specifically with its Salt Lake City office to support Cotopaxi’s local refugee community. With the IRC SLC, we host educational events for refugee youth, offer bridge employment through our card-writing program, and contribute to the Cotopaxi Refugee Scholarship Fund.

Participatory, Experiential Learning

Fundación Escuela Nueva

For the past 33 years, FEN has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of children and their families through quality education that equips and empowers them as individuals of a flourishing society; reducing inequality and combating poverty. Their participatory, cooperative, and personalized approach to learning nurtures an ethos of peace and participation where children, teachers, and communities are the main actors of change. Their goal is for all children, regardless of their context, to have access to quality education and opportunities to fully develop their human potential. Over the last two years, they have worked in over 1,260 rural remote schools in Colombia, training over 3,100 teachers and reaching over 45,400 children with high quality learning materials.

Eradicating Malaria One Net At A Time

UN Foundation - United to Beat Malaria

A campaign of the UN Foundation, United to Beat Malaria (UBM) is on a mission to eradicate malaria. Since its creation in 2006, UBM has delivered more than 13 million bed nets to families in need, along with other crucial malaria intervention services such as diagnosis, treatment, and training for healthcare workers. We’ve teamed up with United to Beat Malaria to expand its work to end malaria in Ecuador and other parts of Latin America.

Meeting the urgent needs of impoverished communities in the Americas

Mercy Corps

One of the most recognized global humanitarian organizations, Mercy Corps empowers people recovering from crisis. Currently, Cotopaxi supports Mercy Corps’s efforts to meet the urgent needs of Colombian and Venezuelan refugees through cash assistance, medicine, and small business grants. Over the next 18 months, the organization will lead a consortium to provide emergency cash assistance to nearly 90,000 Venezuelan refugees.

Helping Refugees Make Utah Home

Utah Refugee Services

A division of Utah’s Department of Workforce Services, Utah Refugee Services helps refugees integrate into their new communities. It also helps them find family-sustaining employment. In partnership with Utah Refugee Services, we offer bridge employment opportunities for displaced individuals through our repairs program.

With the firm belief that lasting change comes from community driven strategy and buy-in, the mission of The Chain Collaborative is to invest in the capacity of Change Leaders in coffee-growing regions and accompany them as they drive grassroots, sustainable development in their own communities, according to their own visions for change. We've partnered with The Chain Collaborative to support the collective livelihoods of coffee growing communities in Manabí, Ecuador.

No. We’re still committed to helping alleviate global poverty and our grants and programs will continue to reflect that mission.

How is the foundation funded? What is the relationship between Cotopaxi and the Cotopaxi Foundation?

Cotopaxi gives 1% of revenue every year to the foundation. 100% of this corporate donation supports Cotopaxi Foundation grantees and impact programming, such as our card-writing program and Questival activations.

Will the Cotopaxi Foundation be doing any of its own programming?

While the Cotopaxi Foundation’s principal focus remains supporting leading nonprofits, we do look forward to increasing our community programs.
